Saleh Bembry and BAPE teamed up to reintroduce the New Balance 2002R, which has since seen a resurgence in popularity. Even so, the century-old brand has delivered some of the most revered and sought-after 2002R colorways of the past 18 months from its regular release schedule. When it came to this month’s New Balance 2002R “Protection Pack”, the “Suede Pack” was a close second.
A distressed version of the classic 2010 silhouette was featured in the “Rain Cloud,” “Phantom,” and “Sea Salt” collections, which were designed by CDG. Fans and casual wearers alike have fallen in love with it, and now the brand has two more classic-colored designs in the works for 2022. The new 990v6 features a throwback version of the “Navy” colorway, which first appeared on the 1984 New Balance 1300. Meanwhile, the “Steel Blue” colorway dates all the way back to that shoe’s debut in 1984.
