The Nike Trainer SC High made a small comeback in 2020 to celebrate its 30th birthday, following a brief absence from the spotlight. Since then, there have been few and far between releases, the last of which came out in Georgetown garb in mid-2021. Assuming the OG “Auburn” colorway makes a comeback, the Swoosh will turn to another of Bo Jackson’s iconic uniform stripes, the Nike Trainer SC High “Kansas City Royals”, to bring a little bit of nostalgia to the classic silhouette.
Even though the recently-released “University Blue” colorway had baseball-stitched laces that resembled the Royals’ baby blue uniforms, this new color scheme is more in line with them because of its light power blue, royal, grey, and white attire. Perforated leather in a mostly blue upper, with color-coordinated mesh tongues, is the bulk of the light blue. The forefoot and tongue liner are accented with royal to nod to the team’s colors, while the eye-stays and straps are classic baseball-pant grey. Before all four colors converse on the multi-faceted sole, a single black leather Swoosh pays tribute to the era’s baseball belts to complete the uppers.
No official release date has been given for the Nike Trainer SC High “Kansas City Royals,” but pairs are expected to be available on Nike.com in the coming weeks.
