Images of the LeBron 19 released by Nike show a design by 14-year-old Sam David Phelps, an aspiring wheelchair basketball player who hopes to one day play for the US men’s team and is now playing with the Portland WheelBlazers.

Sam David’s LeBron 19 is based on his credo, “Never Back Down,” which appears above the Air Max bag in his handwriting. Forefoot and insole lightning bolts contrast with his custom wheelchair branding and the mesh upper’s solid color scheme. His year of birth and initials are hand-lettered on the heel of his shoe, revealing even more personal information.

At some point in the spring of 2019, Nike will release the LeBron 19 and all of the Doernbecher sneakers.
