When the Nike Air Trainer 1 was first introduced in 1987, it became an instant hit with its versatility. The model can be used for training and physical activities ranging from tennis to track & field sports – thanks largely due to CB34 by John McEnroe who debuted his prototype pair ahead of public release. 35 years later (and no sign yet) about whether or not these will ever make another appearance; we have just gotten our hands on some OG authentic Nikes that are sure to beat out any other type you’ll find around town.
The Nike Air Trainer 1 “Chlorophyll” colorway has seen a handful of retros over the years, even receiving an SB version in 2020. This 2022 retro stands out from all others as it’s been designed to be as true-to-life and accurate as possible with its design while still being eye-catching at first glance – which is why we think you’ll love this particular pair. The return of the OG perforations and changes to this year’s model makes for a more modern look, but it’s still very much inspired by McEnroe’s original design from 1986. The shade green used on Air Trainer 1 has also changed slightly; now closely resembles what we saw back then when tennis shoes were all grey-striped with red lids.
The 2022 Nike Air Trainer 1 OG has already been released at some retailers in Asia and Brazil. Look for these to drop stateside later this year on Nike.com and at select retailers. Check out the photos below and stay tuned for updates.
