The NBA is getting ready for its annual All-Star Weekend, and this year it’s in Cleveland. Ahead of the event on February 18th to 20th, the 75th anniversary celebrating the organization has teamed up with WNBA And Nike Inc. For one very special release, that’s right at home with everything else happening over here: A women’s Nike dunk high emblazoned as if they were namesake–a basketball.
This new pair of Nike Dunk High EMB “ASW 2022″ forgoes any team or locale-specific colorway in favor of a near tonal one inspired by the game’s equipment. While they haven’t publicly confirmed what model “EMB” (read: embedded) iterations represent, you can deduce that these shoes are alluding to various aspects which have fixed themselves firmly within basketball – its history and culture too.
The Nike Zoom Mercurial Vapor 10 basketball shoe is designed with a high-top silhouette in mind, paying tribute to the sport through its use of textured overlays and bold colors. The most overt nods come from profiles swooshes that are alternated between white/black for printings on either side; however, it also has orange highlights across both tongue label areas as well.
