Nike and Tom Sachs produced the Mars Yard sneaker as part of the groundbreaking NikeCraft initiative for scientists and explorers who dreamed of landing on Mars. Next in line is the General Purpose Shoe, a daily shoe that embodies the NikeCraft philosophy of seeking out new ways to serve athletes, artists, and everyone in between.
The General Purpose Shoe (GPS) shares certain similarities with the Mars Yard and Mars Yard 2.0 in terms of durability and style, as well as breathability and water resistance for everyday use. Comfort and stability are ensured by a three-piece molded cup sole and lockdown straps. GPS’s engineering and materials are designed to deliver comfort, support, and tactile sensation in a reasonably-priced product. Primarily, though, this type of shoe is supposed to be worn and broken in by the person who will eventually wear it.
nikecraft.com will sell the Nike General Purpose Shoe for $109.99 in sizes 5-14.5, 15.5, and 16.5 for women and 3.5-13, 14.5, and 15 for men.
