Stone Island and New Balance have collaborated on a new sneaker, the Stone Island x New Balance 574 Legacy, which will be released worldwide on February 16 after being unveiled in mid-November 2022 with help from Raheem Sterling.
The sneaker stays true to its roots by emulating its original 1988 design. On the other hand, the unreleased Stone Island 574 features an updated design based on traditional military garb. There are several subtle references to the Italian-born fashion house, including the compass logo on the top of the tongue (unlike on other pieces by the brand) and branding around the heel and on the sockliner. The rest of the upper is constructed from grid-patterned nylon that sits atop a layer of extra-hairy suede.
The “N” logo, vamp, laces, and spine of the Stone Island x New Balance 574 all have reflective finishes for low-light visibility and enhanced utility. The “Steel Blue” release completes the modern look with a fuzzy interior lining, grey ENCAP, and a rubber outsole.
