Nike, Inc.’s skateboard division, the Swoosh, has collaborated with various companies and artists, from Ben & Jerry’s to The Grateful Dead. For example, the recently released “Camcorder” effort honored the VX1000 — a skater’s best friend — and looked for inspiration everywhere. The Polaroid x Nike SB Dunk Low, expected to be released in the new year, is Nike SB’s latest foray into photography.
Films by the 85-year-old production company are just as iconic on their own as the Dunk. Films, pop culture, and the original Instagram logo all use rainbow motifs and the camera’s unique design. With the addition of a semi-translucent yellow Swoosh and a trio of Swoosh overlays, the multi-color finish on the SB Dunk Low now creates a colorful rainbow finish. The Swooshes also serve as a divider between a white heel and sole unit and a black mesh and oiled leather collar and forefoot. The five-color rainbow is featured once more on the vamp and the insoles, where it has taken over completely. Polaroid-branded aglets and reflective heel overlays round out the design of the latter’s co-branded finish.
The Polaroid x Nike SB Dunk Low is expected to be released in April 2022, and more information is expected to be released soon.
