Even after almost five years since his debut “The Ten” collection, Virgil Abloh continues to draw attention by reimagining classic NIKE, Inc. silhouettes with some of his signature design cues. The Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 Mid in white is coming up next.
In addition to its jarring modifications, the newly-surfaced pair has already sparked outrage on social media because of the trim’s general displeasure. Additional greyscale laces run from the quarter-panel to the eye-stays, and lockdown straps around the ankle feature greyscale knit. Each profile swoosh features an Off-White Helvetica text on the medial side, while mismatched tabs accompany it.
Midsoles are paired with a new support structure at the heel and feature an imperfect, wavy layout; this is Abloh’s boldest modification to Bruce Kilgore’s iconic Air Force 1. Created visibility window for previously-enclosed Air unit furthers Abloh’s penchant to bring the hidden to prominence. The outsoles of the upcoming sneakers feature spiked treads like the Off-White x Nike Waffle Racer. Abloh’s design choices are further scrutinized by this new detailing, which incorporates vibrant hues of blue, pink, and green.
