Nike Dunk Low “Setsubun” DQ5009-268

Nike Dunk Low “Setsuban”

Foot sites have been deluged with celebratory releases as we near the annual Spring festivals. The most recent is the Nike Dunk Low “Setsubun” — the second demon-riddled release for the festival today.

Setsubun, the bean-throwing festival, is also known as the “Seasonal Division” festival because it is celebrated on the last day of Winter, the day before Spring arrives. Utagawa Kuniyoshi’s seasonal illustration inspires Nike’s newest Dunk’s theme in this location. According to Japanese folklore, Kintoki is battling against demons that spring up during the changing seasons. People pelt them with dry soybeans, yelling “Demon out, fortune inside,” to fend them off.

These Nike Dunk High Up “Seven Gods of Good Fortune” also have an Edo-inspired design thanks to buttery soy bean-like uppers and demonic motifs in purple and gold throughout the pack’s branding and design elements.

A release date for the Nike Dunk Low “Setsubun” is yet to be identified, so we’ll keep you updated here.
