A legend was born over a century ago. The first African American to play in the Major Leagues in the modern era was Jack Roosevelt Robinson, who was many things to many people. In order to describe him, it would be an understatement. We can all learn from Jackie’s experience that nothing can stop us from pursuing our dreams, no matter how big or small. Every year on April 15th, Major League Baseball commemorates and honors Jackie Robinson’s historic debut in the major leagues. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the groundbreaking moment, making it even more significant. In honor of Jackie Robinson’s life and career, Nike is releasing a limited-edition Nike Dunk Low “Jackie Robinson” shoe.
The shoe, which is expected to be released for adults as well, features a cream suede upper with vibrant royal blue overlays, reminiscent of Dodgers uniforms from the 1970s. There are two layers of suede on the Swoosh for a two-toned look. Some of the finer details include the forefoot mini-Swooshes, the baseball stitch laces, and the special 75th-anniversary insignia on the tongue, as well as the #42 heel detailing and graphic insoles that mirror the overlays. There are also 75th-anniversary insignia on the tongue and baseball stitch laces. A white and black sole unit with contrast blue stitching holds it all together.
Look at the Nike Dunk Low “Jackie Robinson” below and expect more information on its release date in mid-April, which is less than a month away.
