Nike would have been expected to make the connection between Air Max Day and 4/20, given that the two events are less than a month apart. As a result of the worldwide legalization of marijuana, the Swoosh has traditionally left that up to Nike SB, but that may change. They have yet to make an official statement about their lineage, but it’s clear that this unofficially-dubbed Nike Air Max 1 “Skunk” (formally titled “Treeline”) is inspired by the infamous Nike SB Dunk High of the same name.
The pair’s impression isn’t exactly 1:1, but it’s close enough thanks to the Dunk’s deep green and purple pigments. The suede used is similar but not as fuzzy, and the Swoosh has dispensed with the iconic stash pocket. To give the shoe a more rugged feel, uncut grass-like laces are paired with brown mesh uppers and brown overlays.
The first look at the new Nike Air Max 1 “Treeline” which is expected to be released soon at select Nike stockists and on the Nike.com website, is below.
