Nike has continually drawn inspiration from Uptown and the Bronx neighborhoods in New York City. To be fair, it was in this area that Nike first established its reputation as a go-to shoe for streetwear. New York City’s Ghanian community is the focus of this upcoming release, which focuses on the Boogie Down borough’s Little Accra neighborhood.
This upcoming Nike Air Force Little Accra goes above and beyond the status symbol status, featuring a regal color scheme of red, burgundy, and burnt orange with gilded details. 167th Street in the Bronx is known as “Little Accra.” It is referenced in the heel’s design. The insoles of the shoes feature traditional African patterns with messages such as “Sharing Stories” and “Building Community.” Inscriptions of cultural symbols can also be found on the golden lace dubrae.
