Drake’s sixth studio album, “Certified Lover Boy,” was released six months ago. The Canadian superstar had planned to release a special “White” Nike Air Force 1 Low through his NOCTA label to coincide with the album’s arrival, but the shoes were delayed. Even though there were rumors earlier in the year that the shoe had been scrapped because of problems with mass-producing the heart-shaped traction underneath the tip of the toe, new images of the pair suggest that a release date may occur after all.
Drake’s AF1 mimics the original “White-on-White” colorway of the original NOCTA Hot Step silhouette, which is a throwback to the brand’s illustrious past. Using premium leather across the upper and tweaking some of Bruce Kilgore’s original design to be “on-brand” with himself, the 35-year-old made sure his collaboration stood out from the Swoosh’s standard offering. The “Metallic Silver” accents on the laces return, but the “AIR” branding on the outsole has been swapped out for the words “Love you forever,” possibly a personal message from Drake to the person who wears these Air Force 1.
The toe box’s perforations range in depth, and the classic star pattern around the sole has been updated with heart shapes. Finally, NOCTA branding appears on the left shoe’s heel and both sock-liners, suggesting that they are higher quality than the average Air Force 1 Low.
