The Jarritos x Nike SB Dunk Low, one of the most anticipated collabs of recent months, will help to ensure the renewed silhouette’s preeminence in the sneaker world all the way through 2023 thanks to Nike’s commitment to working with less obvious but ultimately more fruitful collaborators. Despite getting a first look at the forthcoming pair late last month, the inclusion of tear-away uppers was a mystery.
The upper is constructed with a white leather vamp, midfoot panel, and heel; a tan burlap canvas encases the stitched-on overlays; and the midfoot Swoosh is colored a contrasting green to stand out. Sneakers with a Mexican label with a jug logo on the heel can be unboxed by placing a precision knife inside to rip away the latter fabric, revealing orange suede underlays. The tongue and heel tabs of these Nike SBs feature branded Jarritos logos, and the shoe’s upper and sole are colored to match the orange, white, and green of the popular Mandarin sodas.
