CLOT has finally announced its upcoming Nike Dunk High collab, the Flux Dunk, following some early leaks.
“Flux” alludes to a continuous shift or movement, according to the CLOT team, whether it’s time, nature, or the constant changing of situations, roles, and even dimensions in our daily lives. Edison Chen, the creator and creative director of CLOT was inspired by the Yin-Yang philosophy of fluidity and harmony, which encourages everyone to embrace change and the harmony of the present and future.
“The original plan was to incorporate a black-and-white Yin-Yang philosophy. “Right now, it’s mostly silver, but the endpoints of the spectrum are white and black, and the combination of those in the middle is what gives the shoe its chrome-like silver sheen,” Edison explains.
The renowned Dunk High was chosen as the design’s foundation since it has a history of flowing across and uniting many communities and cultures since 1985. The idea of fluidity is then portrayed by a totally lenticular top, which creates an optical illusion that may be triggered from any perspective. When in motion, the co-branded tongue flips between CLOT and Nike logos. The traditional overlays and Swoosh have been replaced with complementary topstitches for an ultra-sleek aesthetic, continuing the futuristic style.
“I’ve always been fascinated by lenticular since I was a kid.” “When we first started thinking about the design, I imagined a sneaker that would alter and attract your sight from across the street,” Edison explains. “At every angle, you move, the sneaker provides you a distinct feeling. “The colorway’s simplicity and subtlety give a really modern picture of what a sneaker might look like in the future,” he continued.
The CLOT NIKE FLUX DUNK will be accompanied by an exclusive collectible card set, which will be available in six lenticular designs to match the shoe. Two special editions autographed by Edison Chen are scattered throughout the card release, including a restricted edition and an exciting ultra-rare variant. Each pair of Flux Dunk will include one card, which will be distributed at random.
