The Swoosh’s rival banner, Air Jordan, has started applying a consistent theme to its product line in the same way that it did with the Air Force 1 for Valentine’s Day. The Air Jordan 1 Mid is a tonal homage to the love that is in the air, and it takes its cues from the recently released “Washed Pink” suede-coated Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG.
Without any overt references to the holiday, such as the heart-shaped cherries that debuted the Air Force 1 Valentine’s Day collection, this elementary school-only outfit employs the silhouette’s signature color-blocking, with a clean white covering the shoe’s underlayer, laces, and midsole. The bright pink treatment on the smooth leather overlays injects instant character into the shoe, while the beat-colored Swooshes and the sock liner and tongue trim provide a darkened contrast. Blank white ankle insignia contrast the tongue’s pink Jumpman, resuming the latter tone across its tread in a clad finish.
